NEW DELHI:Â Day after the Gyanvapi Mosque Shivling controversy, DU professor Ratan Lal from Hindu College has been booked for an allegedly objectionable social media post referring to claims of a Shivling being found at the Gyanvapi Mosque. According to the police, professor Ratan Lal allegedly posted a photo of the structure and made objectionable comments on Tuesday on his social media account.
He was charged under IPC section 295-A (malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings).
On Saturday, with heavy police presence, a group of students and teachers of Delhi University protested at the arts faculty in the North Campus demanding the immediate release of Hindu College associate professor Ratan Lal.
They were protesting with banners and placards. Several students and teachers who are not affiliated with any organizations also join the protest and demanded to give an immediate release of Ratan Lal (accused).
