Rajasthan judicial service (RJS) is a competitive judicial service exam held
annually by Rajasthan High Court. The mode of examination is Hindi as well as
English language. The exam selection process consists of three stages:
- The preliminary examination
- Written main examination
- The interview
PRELIMS EXAMINATION
• The preliminary examination for the Rajasthan judicial service is an
objective exam
• The preliminary exam consists of two papers, law paper 1 and law
paper 2 with 70% weightage.
• The remaining 30% weightage is for language papers i.e., Hindi, and
English both.
• The total no. of questions in the examination consists of 100 marks,
each question contains 1 mark. There is no negative marking in examination.- Prelims strategy for preparation:
• A good command over bare act is extremely important.
• All sections of the bare act must be thoroughly understood.
• Read newspaper daily and try to relate the current knowledge and
legal knowledge of books.
• Prefer any standard books and solve maximum possible multiple-choice questions.
• Practice past years question papers.
• Analyze the score.

• Maintain a correct study plan and stick with it. Also, keep weekly
targets.
• Read newspaper daily. It will help you know about the current
happenings and try to relate them with legal knowledge.
• Maintain consistency: it is important t o be consistent during the
period of preparation with full determination and enthusiasm. Maintaining
consistency is the key.
• Focus on each subject. Make sure to be fully aware with the
happenings taking place in the state.
• Keep yourself updated with the new amendments or new acts in the
syllabus.
• Prepare your notes and make a proper revision strategy.
• Try to practice writing answers as much as possible. Also, solve and
practice mock and pervious years question paper with proper time
management.
• Practice judgement writing and order writing.
• Make a list of important topics. Practice essay writing on current
developments for both the languages. - INTERVIEW
The candidates who qualify for the main examination are invited for the
Interview. The interview amounts to 35 marks. A typical interview involves
questions based on various aspects such as personal and academic background;
current affairs, general knowledge; and legal knowledge. Marks are also awarded
to a candidate based on his/her proficiency in the Rajasthani dialect and his
knowledge about Rajasthani social customs. The interview also takes measure to
find the best fitment of the candidate with reference to their record at the
College/University level, and his overall personality and demeanor.

• A candidates’ personality is assessed.
