JHARKHAND: Today, Jharkhand’s Special Court convicts both the accused in Judge Uttam Anand Murder Case. Lakhan Kumar Verma and Rahul Kumar Verma are convicted under Sections 302 (murder) and 201 (disappearance of evidence) read with Section 34 (common intention) of the IPC.
Last year on July 28, an auto-rickshaw driver was unable to control his vehicle and he met with an accident with him. Anand suffered severe injuries and later died during the course of treatment.
While it was initially believed to be an accident, CCTV footage of the incident suggests that the vehicle deliberately rammed on Judge Uttam Anand as he was walking along the edge of the road. Later, Jharkhand High Court took suo motu cognizance of the incident and is monitoring the issue.
Further, the State government decided to hand over the probe to CBI which the Court acceded to.
The next date of hearing will be on 6th August.
