Modernisation of State Police Forces (MPF) Scheme

Salient features:
1.To develop high-quality, operationally independent forensic sciences facilities to aid scientific and timely investigation by modernizing the resources.
2.Centre has approved Rs 2,080.50 crore under the central scheme to modernize forensics capacities.
3.Rs 18,839 crore has been distributed for security related use in uprising impacted north-eastern states, union territories of Jammu and Kashmir, and regions impacted by left wing extremism (LWE).
4.Violent occurrences in LWE impacted regions have diminished radically with the execution of ‘National Policy and Action Plan’ to battle Maoist rebellion. To continue this achievement, six LWE related plans have been approved, with Central cost of Rs. 8,689 crores.
