    Media plays a wider role in creating society’s mind. Nowadays everything is roamed around the media and society is one of the major things. Civil society is an organization working in the interest of the citizen and their need.

    Through research and campaigning awareness arising training monitoring, legal help, and budget analysis civil society can successfully participate in public oversight of security sector governance at national, regional, and international levels. Many of the same goals can be accomplished by using media to reach a larger audience in the first place further, the media serve as the main means of contact with the general public, government officials, and security personnel.

    Civil society organizations that perform policy-relevant research and analysis can help with security sector supervision by making their result and reports public and offering comments and recommendations. CSOs should develop communication with the member of parliament and the government on the regular basis in order to influence policy-making and implementation. They can also use international forums regional organizations and the media to bring international attention to national concerns in order to have a bigger impact on national policy-making processes.

    Civil society organizations are also ideally positioned to represent the interest and demands of minorities and other marginalized groups in society. One of the most significant responsibilities that civil society and media can play is spreading awareness.

    Public education regarding their rights and relations to the security sector, as well as how effective and responsible security sector providers should operate in a democratic governance setting is critical. Public awareness is also important for promoting public attention. In complicated security issues that could otherwise go unspoken due to wested political-economic or criminal interest. Furthermore, civil society organizations must educate the media about security sector challenges in other for them to effectivity communicate those issues to the general public.

    WHAT IS MASS MEDIA?

    The mass media are the technological tools by which information can be communicated and transmitted to millions of people spread all over the globe. Mass communication takes place through the mass media.

    Electronic media, also known as the broadcast media comprises radio, television, film, video, DVD, and all the electronic means of delivering information to the masses. The New media are the internet, mobile technology, DVDs, and social media that use the World-Wide-Web to reach millions of people. The uniqueness of internet media is its speed of that.

    Mass media newspapers, television, radio, films, and the internet have an enormous influence on civil society.

    CONCEPT OF CIVIL SOCIETY:

    According to Seberwal (2005), is defined as a social space that should possess the following qualities:

    • The first quality is that decisions and choices have to be made on the basis of reason and knowledge,
    • The second quality of the civil society is that its member have to relate to each other open-ended, without exclusion on the ground of religion, gender, caste, etc,
    • The third quality is that in the making of decisions and choices, the civil society space has to be free from coercive pressures.

    The public sphere provides a space between state and private citizens for other social formations and voluntary action. The mass media are an institution of the public sphere, providing the platform for discussion and debate and for the circulation of information.

    A civil society with a healthy public sphere stands as opposed to a mass or authoritarian society.

Governments can become more accountable, honest, accountable, transparent, and responsive to public demands as a result of these efforts, gaining public support and strengthening their legitimacy.
