After Supreme Court’s Controversial decision on sedition law, Congress General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala tweeted that the apex court’s latest verdict sends a clear message — “free Speech will not be throttled by autocrats & dictators masquerading as rulers”.
In the tweet – “Suppressors and subjugators sitting in citadels of power be forewarned,” the Congress leader tweeted soon after the Supreme Court pronounced its verdict. “ Speaking truth to power can’t be sedition and status quo will change.”
Today, the Supreme Court of India refrain the central and state government from registering an FIR under Section 124A of the Indian Penal Code as it is under consideration.
The special bench of Chief Justice of India NV Ramanna, justice Surya Kant, and justice Hima Kohli and that all pending cases, appeals, and proceedings which are under section 124A Indian Penal Code will be kept in abeyance.
Those persons who are charged with Section 124A IPC are in jail, they can approach the courts for bail.
